The Hill East Waterfront listserve is a members-only listserve for members of the Hill East Waterfront Action Network (HEWAN). HEWAN supports redevelopment of the Hill East Waterfront property to provide the greatest possible benefit to the immediate community and to D.C. as a whole.
The Hill East Waterfront includes the potentially enchanting vista where the Anacostia River passes near a 67-acre plot of government land sometimes called Reservation 13, the former site of DC General Hospital.
HEWAN supports mixed-use public/private development of the Hill East Waterfront in accordance with the City Council-passed Master Plan, to include residential, retail, and recreational uses. Redevelopment should recognize the natural beauty of this waterfront site as well as the economic potential that development on this land could represent, including helping to fund health care and other needed public services.
Membership in HEWAN is open to all who support our mission. There are no dues. To join, send an email to
[email protected] with the subject line "Join HEWAN." In the body of the email, include your name, address, and phone (optional) for our confidential database. We will send you an invitation to the listserve.
How the listserve works:
To cut down on your email burden, only moderators will post to the listserve. We will send you updates on network activities, meetings with public officials, and other developments affecting the Hill East Waterfront. Most important, the listserve will be a tool for concentrating our collective strength so that our voice will be heard on an issue that is so critical to the future of the Capitol Hill community: to organize email campaigns to public officials, generate turnout at public meetings, hearings, and rallies, and distribute materials you can use to spread the word to your friends and neighbors.
