Hello all!!!! Since It has been such a long time since I have written, I wanted to share a few points of interest with you. Our office has been extremely busy working on making Ward 6 a great place to live. This summer promises to be filled with much activity and interesting events. Our office has received a number of community events that you might be interested in attending. Here is a rundown of some! 2nd Annual Ward 6 Family Day Councilmember Wells will Host the Second Annual Family Picnic & Softball Tournament Saturday June 21, 2008, from 11:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., at the Rosedale Recreation Center, 1700 Gales Street, NE. This event is a fun filled day with activities for everyone! Including baseball, tennis and soccer clinics for the kids, free food and entertainment, raffle prizes from local shops and restaurants, and of course, the celebrity softball tournament. Last year’s event was successful and fun. Families are encouraged to participate. DC Parks and Recreation Activities Recreational Activities from the Department of Parks and Recreation – The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has a variety of events schedule for the month of June. These activities include tournaments, picnic, and community meetings. For more information please visit the DPR website. DPR has also released its summer mowing schedule for anyone concerned about parks in your neighborhood. This information is on their website. 100 Black Men 5th Annual Family Health Day The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC, Inc. (100 BMGWDC) - 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC (BMGWDC) will host their “The 5th Annual Family Health Day” on Saturday June 28, 2008, 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., Sherwood Recreation Center, 640 10th Street NE - Washington, DC. All are welcome to attend. BMGWDC has recruited more than 40 local and national health care organizations to provide screening and diagnostic exams. More than 300 local residents are expected to come out and reap the benefits of a variety of free health screenings on Family Health Day.
