Hello, my name is Bob Guttman and I am on the Senior Advisor for the Committee on Human Services. I had been retired for about 15 years when Tommy surprised me by suggesting that I should come to work for him. When I retired, I looked around for volunteer oportunities and Tommy suggested that I take on a project to find volunteer lawyers for foster parents who wanted to adopt their kids. That project got me involved in broad range of activites to reform the child welafre system, including the development of the Family Court legislation. I have also been active in the AARP both at the National and State (in AARP we call DC a state) level and am particularly proud of the AARP's initiative for a Grandparent Subsidy Program which was enacted by the Council last session. Most of my life, working and volunteer, has been invovlved with legislation and I came to work for Tommy with the hope that I can put that experience to use to help him in improving the welfare of the citizens of DC.
