Press release from DDOT just announced the next phase of the streetscape construction is set to start:
Construction To Begin On H Street North Curb Lane From 7th Street To 11th Street
Construction is to begin on or about Monday, October 19, 2009, in the north curb lane of H Street NE from 7th Street to 11th Street.
The District Department of Transportation is closing the north curb lane to traffic and parking in this four-block stretch until the end of February 2010. This is necessary so that construction workers can excavate the roadway, install streetcar tracks, build new sidewalks and cobblestone tree boxes, put in new street light poles, and repave that lane of the roadway.
Jersey barriers will be put in place to protect motorists and pedestrians from the work area.
The work is part of DDOT’s H Street Reconstruction Project. More information about the project is available on the DDOT website, www.ddot.dc.gov, under the “Major Construction Initiatives” menu selection.
