Earlier today, Tommy joined Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, Executive Director of the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization (OPEFM) Allen Y. Lew, several community leaders and the construction team for a "groundbreaking" to celebrate the modernization work on Eastern Senior High School. Work technically began a few months ago, but today's groundbreaking was symbolic to show exciting work ahead. The modernization for Eastern High School is an approximately $65 million and is a head-to-toe renovation. It includes extensive improvements including hazardous material abatement, roofing and window replacement, new mechanical / electrical / plumbing systems, and full restoration of the auditorium. The updated school is scheduled to be completed in August of 2010, just in time for the new school year. Below are pictures from today's event!
